This is my flight report from traveling between Jaipur and Delhi on Air India (operated by Vistara).
The aircraft was an A320neo, and I flew in Premium Economy.
As you can see from the photos, the flight was operated by Vistara, and both the aircraft and service exceeded my expectations, making it a very comfortable journey.
1. About Vistara
Some people may wonder: “What is Vistara? Isn’t it different from Air India?”
Vistara was a premium Indian airline established in 2014 as a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines.
It operated both domestic and long‑haul international routes and was known for its high‑quality service.
However, after Tata Group acquired Air India (formerly state‑owned, originally Tata Airlines), the two airlines were merged for operational efficiency.
In December 2024, Vistara was officially integrated into Air India as the surviving brand, and the Vistara brand was discontinued.
That said, as of January 2026, the integration of aircraft and crew is still ongoing.
Some routes continue to be operated by Vistara aircraft and staff.
Even on the same route, some flights are Air India‑operated and others are Vistara‑operated.
Because of the better on‑time performance and service quality, many travelers intentionally choose Vistara‑operated flights.
I also chose Vistara on purpose this time.
Then, How to identify a Vistara‑operated flight?
If the first digit of the flight number is “2”, it is typically operated by Vistara.
Example: AI 2761
I recommend you choose Vistara flight if you book Air India.
2. Jaipur International Airport (JAI)

Jaipur Airport is located about 10 km south of the city center.
There is no train connection, In case of Uber, It takes around 30 minutes.
The airport has:
- Terminal 1 – International
- Terminal 2 – Domestic
- Terminal 3 – Planned for future construction
I used Terminal 2 for domestic flights.
The terminal is extremely clean—almost like a different world compared to the city center.

In India, you must show your flight ticket (e‑ticket or booking confirmation) to enter the terminal, and you can only enter within 4 hours of departure.

Check‑in
The check‑in counters are spacious.
Air India also has self‑check‑in kiosks.

My flight was AI 2762, departing at 17:05 and arriving in Delhi at 18:20.
Flight time is 1 hour 15 minutes, covering about 220 km.
I booked via Trip.com.
Since Premium Economy was only about US$12 higher than Economy, I booked it(US$45).
Premium Economy has these advantages.
- Front‑row seating
- Wider seat pitch
- Priority boarding
Inside the Airside Area
I was able to bring a bottled water airside area.

Terminal 2 (Airside)
The airside area is compact but has:
- KFC
- Starbucks (take‑out only)
- Bars
- Shops

I had KFC—airport prices(bit higher compared to city.)

Adani Lounge (Priority Pass Accepted)

This is the only lounge in Terminal 2 and they accepts Priority Pass.
It’s located behind the KFC on the 2nd floor.
This time, I using a Trip.com lounge benefit to enter the lounge.
Trip.com offers free lounge access privilege.
Acquiring “Platinum Member” status (which includes one free lounge visit per year) only requires 3 hotel or flight bookings per year, it’s quite easy.
Inside the lounge:
- Not very large, but not so crowded.

- Drinks are complimentary (non‑alcoholic).

- there is bottle of water.
- Hot meals

The curry looked delicious… but I had already eaten KFC. Food is buffet‑style.
3. Boarding & In‑Flight Service

Aircraft
- A320neo

- Clean and modern exterior
- Air India’s app is excellent, with frequent updates on gate changes and departure/arrival times

- Aircraft information and arrival details are also shown
Today’s flight was scheduled to arrive more than 20 minutes early.
Cabin Layout

- 8 Business Class seats
- 24 Premium Economy seats
- 132 Economy seats
The difference between Premium Economy and Economy is mainly seat pitch (29 → 32 inches). Seat width is the same.

The cabin interior is clean, and the legroom offers plenty of space

In‑flight Wi‑Fi

There is a service called Vistara Stream, but I didn’t use it, so I’m not sure if it’s still active.

An IndiGo aircraft parked right next to our plane.
In‑flight Meal (Surprise!)
Right after the seatbelt sign turned off, the crew served:

- A sandwich
- A cake
This was surprising because the flight time is less than 40 minutes in the air.
Meals are served only in Business and Premium Economy.(maybe)
And we were told, “We will land in 20 minutes”
so everyone rushed to finish eating.lol

Cutlery is metal.
Meals were collected in about 10 minutes, followed by drink service.

For such a short domestic flight, having both a meal and drinks is impressive.
Arrival

Shortly afterward, we began descending.
Delhi’s sunset was remarkably beautiful — I once heard that the more polluted the air, the more vibrant the sunset appears.

We arrived about 30 minutes early.
4. Delhi Airport (Terminal 3)

This is the domestic side of Terminal 3. It’s a very clean and modern airport.
5. Final Thoughts
Because It was an Air India domestic flight,
I had concerns about delays, cancellations, or the aircraft condition.
But in the end, everything was smooth – the flight was very comfortable.
If I fly with Air India again, I will make sure to choose a Vistara operated flight whenever possible.
Also I recommend checking the “Premium Economy” fare, as it can sometimes be almost the same price as Economy.
Thank you for reading!
